Jochen Hick

Biography

Jochen Hick is a German film director, author and producer of mainly independent feature and documentary films, also specialising in LGBT subjects. In 1994 he founded the film and TV production company GALERIA ALASKA PRODUCTIONS, based in Hamburg and Berlin. He worked and produced for several production companies and TV channels and contributed to TV documentary programs such as ARD-Exclusiv or SPIEGEL TV Reportage. He has also been author of tv programs for arte, 3sat, SAT1, RTL. 2007-2010 he is as well editor-in-chief, head of program acquisitions and co-programming director of TIMM, the first TV channel for gay male audiences in German speaking countries, which has been on the air 2008-2010. Since 2011 Jochen Hick also works ass part time lecturer at the dffb (Deutsche Film und Fernseheakademie Berlin). He is member of the Deustche Filmakademie (The German Film Academy) and of the AG DOK (German Documentary Association).

Thomas Keller

Editor

Thomas studied film and theater at Giessen and at Bristol University and has a 15 year history working in the creative field. After moving from the UK to Berlin, he moved his focus to film and the documentary field, working both as an editor and camera person for independent production companies and for tv broadcasts. He mainly works on issue based, feature-length documentary films, where he aims to combine powerful storytelling with a genuine observational style.

As editor, his films include: THE GOOD AMERICAN, OUT IN EAST BERLIN, COLONIAL EDUCATION, SONNTAGS IN BERLIN, THE EAST COMPLEX, BECAUSE OF WHO I AM, and THE FOOD CURE.

Andreas Strohfeldt

Assistant/Collaborator

Born in 1962, he studied in Moscow before moving to Saint Petersburg, where he organized Queer Cinema screenings and retrospectives. He has written and directed various short films. He is certified interpreter for Russian language. Since 2007 he works for various projects of GALERIA ALASKA PRODUCTIONS. He was co-author and co-director of the documentary DDR UNTERM REGENBORGEN (rbb, 2011) and OUT IN EAST BERLIN (2013) - both together with Jochen Hick.
